This enables you to either automatically or manually filter your results.
You can access this by clicking on 'Filter (thin) results' option in the 'Select a task...' drop down menu on the results screen. Futher options will displayed after clicking on the 'Filter' button.
On this screen you will need to enter a save name for your new result set. It also enables you to apply some automatic filters to your results (listed below). If you don't wish to apply any automatic filters and want to go straight to manually filtering the results click on the 'Manually Filter' button.
Once you have selected the automatic filter options to apply them click on 'Apply Filters' and the concordances will be processed. Once finished you will be given the option to either 'Manually Filter' (below) or 'Finish and View' the remaining concordances. If you choose 'Finish and View' then you will be taken to the results screen where you can use the filtered results just like any other set of results.
The first thing you must do is enter a save name for the filtered results. The default is the query string. If a previously saved set of results with this name already exist you will be asked if you want to overwrite it.
| Sub-corpus | Include only results that appear in the specified sub-corpus. The options are 'Mini-Web', 'All Domains' or one of the sub domains. |
| Date | By selecting the 'Date from' and 'Date to' you can specify a date range in which the results must appear. Select the year, month and day of each from the drop down menus. |
| Format | Include only results that are in the specified format. The options are HTML, PDF, MS Word, PostScript, RTF and Plain Text. |
| Results per document | Select the maximum number of results to include from each document. |
| Every nth concordance | Choose every nth concordance from the result set only. |
| First n concordances | Choose the first n concordances only. |
| Randomly sample n concordances | Randomly select n concordances from the result set. |
This allows you to remove and reorder concordances by hand.
You can change the way the concordances are displayed by changing these options at the top of the screen:
| Span | Choosing an option from this drop down list will change the length of each concordance shown. The options are X words either side of the result, sentence length or paragraph length. The default is 4. |
| Show POS tags | Checking this box will change the concordance view to include POS tags attached to each word. Description of POS tagsets. |
The concordances are displayed down the centre of the screen. Clicking on a concordance will show some details about it including the date, domain, format and size of the containing document.
To remove a concordance untick the checkbox to the right hand side of it. To move a concordance up or down click on either the up or down arrow to the right hand side of it. If you move a concordance above the line marked 'Prev' or below the line marked 'Next' it will be moved onto the previous or next page and swapped with a concordance from that page.
Once you're finished making changes to the current page you can then click on one of the three buttons at the foot of the page to apply the changes:

| Reload | Clicking this button will apply the changes made to this page and display this page of results again. Any concordances swapped from nieghbouring pages will be included. | |
| Continue | Clicking this button will apply the changes made to this page and display the next page of results. Any concordances moved onto this page will be included. |
Once you're finished making changes to the set of results you can click on the 'Finish' button at the foot of the page. This will take you to the results screen where you can use the filtered results just like any other set of results. If you haven't made your way through all the concordances you can choose what to do with the remaining results using the adjacent drop down menu:
| Include remaining concordances | If you select this option then all remaining concordances (i.e. those you haven't seen) will be included in the filtered result set. |
| Exclude remaining concordances | If you select this option then all remaining concordances (i.e. those you haven't seen) will be removed from the filtered result set. |
