Once you have clicked the Get Concordances button on the start page your search will begin and results will start to be displayed. Across the top of the results page you will see the current search progress and your query string. This will be updated until the search is complete. Even if the search is still being processed you are free to click on or alter any of the on screen options as it will continue in the background.
Concordances in Keyword in Context (KWIC) format will start to appear in the centre of the screen. They will continue to refresh until they fill the screen or the search finishes. You can use the next and back links to browse through the results while the search continues in the background. Clicking on a concordance will display some information about the containing document. At the bottom of the page are two alternative format links that allow you to download the results in either of these formats.
Concordance options are displayed down the right hand side of the page along with some other information about your query below them. When the search is complete some post search processing options will become available via a drop down menu in the same location.

The results shown on this page can also be downloaded in plain text (TXT) or Rich Text (RTF) format by clicking on one of the links at the bottom of the page. This will display a check list so you can select the meta data to include with each concordance. The options are:
The plain text files contain one concordance per line with with the tab seperated meta data at the start of each line.
In the Rich Text Format file the concordances and meta data are arranged in a table. This format opens in the majority of word processing programs including Microsoft Word.
Concordance options are displayed in the top right of the results screen. These are:
Returns you to the concordance view on the results screen.
Only visible if you have chosen a subset of the concordances to look at. It will return you to viewing all concordances.
Checking this box will change the concordance view to include POS tags attached to each word. Description of POS tagsets.
Choosing an option from this drop down list will change how many concordances are displayed on each page. The default is 20.
By entering a value in this box and clicking Go the concordance results will jump to the concordance specified. Note the number you entered may not be the first concordance shown as they are displayed in groups in twenty.
Choosing an option from this drop down list will change the length of each concordance shown. The options are X words either side of the result, sentence length or paragraph length. The default is 4.
Changing this will limit the number of results shown from each document. The options are 1, 2, 5 or unlimited. The concordances will be chosen in the order they appear in the document. The default is unlimited.
Choosing an option from this drop down list will change the infomation displayed to the left of each concordance. The options are Number, Date, Domain, Format and Short URL. The default is Number.
From the 'Select a task...' drop down menu on the right hand side of the results screen you can choose from a range of post search tasks. Selecting one of these will display some options relating to the task and a button to start it. The available options include:
| Table | Produces a summary table listing each match to the query with the number of matches and number of documents they were found in. |
| Frequency/Time | Produces a graph of the frequency of results over time. |
| Date | Produces a table of frequency of results for each date grouped by year, month and day. |
| Document Data | Produces tables of the frequency of results for each domain, country and format. |
| Hosts | Produces a table of the hosts from the results. |
| Date | Sorts the results by date. |
| Adjacent Words | Sorts the results by the words in a specified adjacent position. |
| Matched Words | Sorts the results by the words in a position within the matched text, including wildcards. |
| Span Based | Generates a table of collocates appearing within a specified span of each result. |
| These are only available when the query contains wildcards. | |
| Individual Types | Generates tables of the words appearing in the wildcard positions. |
| Multi-Word Units | Generates tables of the full contents of each wildcard position. |
| Plain Text (zipped) | Creates a plain text file compressed in Zip format containing all concordances from the search for you to download. |
| Save in your Profile | Save a copy of the results in your profile. |
| Filter (thin) Results | Either automatically or manually remove and re-order some concordances. |
At the bottom of the right side of the page there is a link to the current search that you can select and copy.
